DEEPZOOM

Close looking, down to the brushstroke

We built a custom IIIF deep-zoom pipeline that tiles artworks through an AWS Lambda and S3. It runs on the online collection and the VXP, where it keeps pan and zoom in sync during live classes so an instructor and a room full of students can look at the same few inches of paint.

Every painting on this site is served the same way. The covers are assembled from the Barnes's public IIIF tiles in your browser, so you're looking at that pipeline right now.
